Emerald Garden Papier Mache Box No. 2 with Bulbul Pair – Hand-Painted in Kashmir

This emerald green papier mache box is No. 2 in our Emerald Garden collection. Two pale blue crested bulbuls perch together in a deep emerald thicket of flowers and leaves, sea-green branches rising beneath them.

The box is shaped from layered paper pulp (sakhtsazi), dried and smoothed, then painted freehand by our naqash with fine brushes. The dark ground is worked with real 24K gold strokes that shimmer as the box turns in the light, and the whole piece is sealed with a glossy lacquer.

At 3.6 × 3 inches and 2.5 inches tall, this emerald green papier mache box holds rings, earrings, studs, a pendant or small keepsakes, and makes a ready gift box for birthdays, weddings, Eid, Diwali, Christmas or Mother’s Day.
