Small Kashmiri Paper Mache Jewelry Boxes

Small, light and painted entirely by hand, these little Kashmiri paper mache boxes are made for rings, earrings and tiny keepsakes. Most are about 4 × 3 in, and many are one-off pieces, so the box you see is the box you get. Some of our designs use strokes of real 24K gold.

Questions

Is every piece really handmade in Kashmir?

Yes. Each piece is shaped from paper pulp and painted freehand in our family workshop in Zadibal, Srinagar, led by master craftsman Nasir Hussain Mugloo. Because the painting is done by hand, small variations make every piece one of a kind. Meet our artisans.

What fits inside a small box?

A few rings, a pair or two of earrings, a pendant or small keepsakes such as a lock of hair or a note. For bangles and watches, choose a medium 7 × 4 in box.

How do I look after paper mache?

Dust it with a soft, dry cloth. Keep it away from water, direct heat and long hours of strong sunlight, and it will keep its colour and shine for many years.

How long does delivery take?

Ready-to-ship pieces leave our workshop in 1–3 working days. Made-to-order pieces are made for you and take 20–45 working days before dispatch. Shipping is free on every order, worldwide and within India. See our shipping policy for details.
