Blue Garden Papier Mache Box No. 1 with Songbirds Feeding – Hand-Painted in Kashmir
This blue papier mache ring box is No. 1 in our Blue Garden collection. A pair of russet songbirds share a tender moment on a branch, one leaning down to feed the other, beneath blooms of cobalt and sky blue, olive leaves and fresh green buds.
The box is shaped from layered paper pulp (sakhtsazi), dried and smoothed, then painted freehand by our naqash with fine brushes. The dark ground is worked with real 24K gold strokes that shimmer as the box turns in the light, and the whole piece is sealed with a glossy lacquer.
At 3.6 × 3 inches and 2.5 inches tall, this blue papier mache ring box holds rings, earrings, studs, a pendant or small keepsakes, and makes a ready gift box for birthdays, weddings, Eid, Diwali, Christmas or Mother’s Day.
