Rose Garden Papier Mache Box No. 2 with Myna Pair – Hand-Painted in Kashmir
This myna bird papier mache box is No. 2 in our Rose Garden collection. A pair of mynas, with brown wings, dark heads and bright yellow eye patches, perches among pink roses, lilac blossoms and sky-blue sprays, with orange buds along the base.
The box is shaped from layered paper pulp (sakhtsazi), dried and smoothed, then painted freehand by our naqash with fine brushes. The dark ground is worked with real 24K gold strokes that shimmer as the box turns in the light, and the whole piece is sealed with a glossy lacquer.
At 3.6 × 3 inches and 2.5 inches tall, this myna bird papier mache box holds rings, earrings, studs, a pendant or small keepsakes, and makes a ready gift box for birthdays, weddings, Eid, Diwali, Christmas or Mother’s Day.
