Elephant Howdah Papier-Mâché Box – 5×4 in Hand-Painted Kashmiri Mughal Box

Elephant Howdah Papier-Mâché Box – 5×4 in Hand-Painted Kashmiri Mughal Box

This hand-crafted elephant papier mache box features a hand-painted royal elephant with howdah in Mughal miniature style on a cream finish. Every piece is shaped from paper pulp, hand-painted and finished with lacquer by master artisans of Srinagar, so no two boxes are exactly alike.

The procession elephant is one of the best-loved scenes of Mughal miniature art, painted here in fine detail. Our naqash paint each elephant papier mache box freehand with fine brushes, then seal it with lacquer for a soft, lasting shine.
